Spring Bucket List for Dancers

Spring break is here! It’s the perfect time to refresh and reset, and of course, relax!

Here are 6 ways to find creative inspiration, reset your mindset, and prepare for the busy performance season ahead.

Creative Inspiration

  1. Cross-Train with a Hike or Outdoor Yoga: Now that the weather is turning, it’s a great way to get outside the four walls of the studio and breath some fresh air! You’ll still be moving your body which builds stamina and strength in non-dancing ways. Grab your dance buds and head to the nearest trail or meet some friends on the mat; even just rolling out your yoga mat on the driveway or porch does wonders. Fresh air + sunshine + movement = calm, clear, & sunkissed!

  2. Sunrise/Sunset Reflection: Head to a scenic spot at the golden hour for a natural light journal session! Even if journaling isn’t necessarily your thing, writing down all the swirling thoughts and putting them to paper can make a big difference in your mental well being. You can also write down prayers, goals, or even your dance choreography! Take a few minutes after your journaling session to take in the quiet beauty of God’s scenic artwork!

Spring Cleaning

3. Dance Bag Refresh: Your dance bag works hard – treat it to a spring makeover! Take everything out and sort through your essentials. Here’s a quick checklist to get started:

  • Toss or replace worn-out items (hello, holey tights!).

  • Wash and sanitize water bottles.

  • Restock must-haves like hair ties, band-aids, and deodorant.

Pro tip: Use small pouches to keep items organized and easy to grab. A clean dance bag makes every class feel fresh!

4. Clean Your Dance Shoes Your shoes are the foundation of your performance – give them some love! Depending on the style, here’s how to care for them:

  • Ballet slippers: Hand wash fabric pairs gently and air dry.

  • Tap shoes: Wipe clean with a damp cloth and check screws.

  • Jazz or sneakers: Spot clean and freshen with baking soda.

5. Digital Declutter: A tidy digital space can boost your dance focus. Try these quick fixes:

  • Organize practice videos into labeled folders and delete videos you don’t need anymore.

  • Download fresh playlists like our Recital 2026 Playlist so you can have the music to practice with at home!

  • Follow inspiring dancers and studios on social media for a dose of motivation and be sure to unfollow any accounts that don’t inspire!

Fresh Goals

6. Spring is a season of renewal: why not set some new dance goals? Whether it’s mastering a tricky move or performing in the next showcase, write down your goals and celebrate your progress.

Let’s welcome spring with a fresh start – both in the studio and beyond. Ready to dance your way into a cleaner, more organized season? We can’t wait to see you bloom and grow!
